Vallecas’ tower
http://www.entresitio.comTower for social housing in the new residential area of Vallecas, in the outskirts of Madrid, raises a number of issues being discussed intensely in our cities.
In one hand, there is the fact of building in height as a sustainable model, betting on density and minimum footprint.
In the other hand, the urban housing as a reference building, unique, somehow iconic device that assumes the role of qualifying the tissue once before qualified by other uses.
The facade becomes the central argument not only for its physical implementation, but also as an energy efficiency strategy. Its materiality is also unique, zinc, traditional “overcoat”, is placed in a ventilated façade that protects from heat and rain.
